What is an Energy Statement?
An energy statement is a report which is used to demonstrate compliance with regional or site specific sustainability targets as part of your planning application.
Compliance is generally shown through improvements to building fabric and by incorporating renewable technology alongside efficient building services resulting in lower carbon emissions.
Do requirements differ?
Yes, depending on where the project is located you will find that the standards you need to meet can vary considerably.
London authorities adhere to framework set out in ‘The London Plan’ which result in significant reductions on CO2 emissions over the 2013 building regs and other authorities will have varying requirements.
How is it conducted?
We produce calculations using the applicable SAP software to quantify CO2 emissions of a baseline design and then incorporate improvements to the design as per the stipulation of the planning condition or local framework/policy to achieve the desired outcome
These results are then presented in a detailed report which details the prosed CO2 emission reductions and detailed proposals on how to achieve them.
What do we need?
We need details of the planning application, any planning conditions and a full set of drawings and building specification including preferences on how to achieve compliance i.e. preferred type of heat pump or solar configuration.
We would also strongly recommend giving plenty of time to complete these assessments.
